The Va Beach Sport Fishing Boat Fin Seeker
In Virginia Beach sport fishing circles everybody knows Captain Bob Robinson and his beautiful sport fishing boat, the Fin Seeker. She's the boat with the "Mermaid" on the back.
The Fin Seeker
Length is: 53' Boat Type: Bobby Sullivan Carolina Offshore Sportfisher. Electronic Equipment: Radar, Loran, GPS, Depth Finder, VHF Radio Maximum Anglers: 6 anglers
A typical Virginia Beach fishing trip for Captain Bob on the Fin Seeker is just another day at the office. Your mate will take care of getting the fish hooked, he will set up in the fight chair, and then leave you alone to battle your fish to the boat.
Another thing most boats don't offer is that Captain Bob has cameras mounted in strategic locations around the boat so the entire catch is video taped to eventually be put on DVD. You will have a chance to get one of these DVDs. |
The Sport Fishing Gear
Fin Seeker Sport Fishing will supply all your bait, tackle, ice, and fishing gear for a great day of offshore sport fishing in Virginia Beach. On board the Fin Seeker are all custom sportfishing rods equipped with various Penn and Shimano reels.
(8) 80 Wides, (12)
50 Wides (all PENN, all TWIN SPEED) Outfitted with 8
Shimano 30's twin speed reels for Marlin fishing.
Your Va Beach Sport Fishing Trip on DVD
Captain Bob has installed video cameras on the boat so your fight with a yellowfin tuna, wahoo, or big blue marlin can be captured and placed on DVD. What a great idea and you can get your very own DVD of you catching a big game sportfish on the Fin Seeker. Captain Bob will charge only $20.00 per DVD that he will mail to you. Now there is no chance your other fishing buddies won't believe your fish stories, you will have right there on disc for them to see.
What To Bring To The Boat
Captain Bob and Fin Seeker Sport Fishing Charters will supply ice, bait, tackle, rods, and reels. Listed below are some of the items that you should bring yourself, if you want to bring these items. Also if you have a pair of boat shoes like Topsiders or Docksiders then you should wear them. Tennis shoes or other soft soled shoes are OK too. DO NOT wear hard soled shoes such as an old pair of dress shoes, penny loafers, or similar as they leave black scuff marks all over the deck. Tennis shoes, boat shoes, or flip flops are recommended.
Bring a cooler for food and drinks. Ask your Virginia charter boat Captain how large of a cooler you will need to carry your fish home in. |
A sports bag is a good idea to bring for carrying your rain gear, hat, glasses etc and other personal items that you need on a saltwater charter fishing trip. |
Bring all your food and drinks. If you want to bring beer you should clear it with the charter boat Captain first. |
If you will be fishing in foul or rainy weather then you may want to bring some gear to keep you dry. Not as important on boats with covers and cabins like the Fin Seeker. |
Bring sun glasses. Preferrably polarized fishing glasses to lessen the sun's glare that reflects up off the water. |
Bring a camera to take snapshots of those big fish you catch or video of the beautiful offshore waters of Virginia. |
A hat or ball cap is a good idea, especially for you guys that are getting a bit thin on top. Protect your head from the sun's burning rays. |
If you get sea sick or aren't sure if you get sea sick then it is a very wise idea to take your Dramamine before you leave the dock. Nothing can ruin a fishing trip worse than a guy named "RALPH". |
Even the Virginia Chesapeake Bay region can get very hot during the summer. Make sure you bring sunscreen, especially if you burn. If you have sunburn then you can't enjoy your Virginia Beach charter fishing trip. |
You probably already paid for the trip but you should make sure you have some cash in pocket so you can tip the First Mate. Being Mate on a charter boat is not easy work and these guys deserve every dime they get. Tip them well!

What Not To Bring on the Boat - i.e. Bananas
Are you superstitious? No? Well believe it when we say when it comes to many fishing Captains that they are as bad or worse than baseball players when it comes to special routines they practice or items they carry or forbid. One major item they forbid and that you should NEVER EVER bring on a boat is a banana! No bananas, no banana pudding, banana sandwiches, banana splits, banana drinks, banana boat suntan lotion, no banana anything. It may be an old wives tale, but it's a fact that bananas are bad luck on a fishing boat. History tells us that this tale originated as early as the 17th century from banana laden cargo boats that ran aground,
lost crew members to sickness and disease, or became lost at sea.
Further investigation indicated that the bananas were also prone carry to the deadly tarantula spider! |
