| Virginia Beach Rockfish Season |
Hello everyone! We are at the time of year when we anticipate the arrival of huge schools of Striped Bass in our local waters. Virginia's coastal region's and the nearby Chesapeake Bay have been known for decades to be the best fishery for Striper's. The late season cold fronts that are common to our area in November and December force the fish to push south towards the North Carolina-Virginia State Line as water temperatures fall and eventually reach the lower forty's by late February. During this time period schools of fish that spend the Summer months spawning and flourishing in the rivers and bay's are forced into the open ocean waters where they are usually signified by huge schools of diving sea birds. This is quite a spectacle to behold and usually makes for some great action.
We typically target Striped Bass trolling artificial baits around schools of bait or nearby structure. This method has proven to be very productive as you get to cover a lot of ground that would otherwise be untouched. The fish do tend to hang around in schools so usually when you find one you have found them all.
This type of fishing is extremely angler friendly and is great for the kids as well. We encourage our customers to participate in the fishing and enjoy the experience according to their desires.
The weekends including Friday's are usually the first to get booked so hurry up and get your days or someone else will! Hope to see you all soon and Happy Holidays! |
